| By Road | The temple of Shri Mahalasa is situated on Mardol ward of Priol Village of Ponda taluka. It is on the National Highway No: 4A (now bypassed) which connects the cities of Panaji to Ponda and Margao. The distance from Panaji to Mardol is 21 km and along the same route, it is nine km away to Ponda. Many inter-state government-run and privately operated buses travel through Mardol. |
| By Rail | The nearest railway station is Karmali or Old Goa, on Konkan Railway, from where one can take bus or taxi to Mardol, the other main stations in Goa being Madgaon, Panaji, Vasco Da Gama and Sanvordem. |
| By Air | The airport is located at Dabolim, which is 30 km from Panaji or Margao. |
| The
Shri Mahalasa Saunsthan, Mardol, has 26 two-room blocks and four three-room
blocks, all with an attached toilet and bathroom. Each room is provided
with one cot, two mattresses with pillows. There is a full-fledged canteen
where breakfast and meals are available, at subsidised rates. It is preferable
to intimate the canteen your requirements, in advance, if required.
There are three families of Archakas in the Saunsthan. The family of Bhatji performing sevas on behalf of Gowda Saraswat Brahmin, the family of Khedekar performing sevas on behalf of other Brahmins and the family of Acharya performing sevas on behalf of people of other community. Inside the temple of Shri Mahalasa there is a counter where sevas can be booked, where one can also purchase yearly calendar, containing the details of all auspicious occasions and other details of temple programmes. Photos of deities and stotra books are also available at the counter. The temple has a tank for bathing as well as to perform other rituals. For other information and booking of rooms, one has to go the office of the Saunsthan situated on the left hand side of the main entrance. |
The
tariff of rooms is as under:
Rent
for two-room block.........Rs 25 per day Additional mattresses with bed cover, pillows are also provided at nominal rent. There is a hall called Shri Mahalasa Hall with chairs to seat about 600 persons and for meals, squatting on the floor for 300 people. The hall is used for Samaradhana on all functions of the temple. The hall is attached with a cooking section with cooking vessels, chairs and other required items for the functions. When it is not required for the Saunsthan, the hall is rented out for marriages and thread ceremonies to the devotees on the following schedule of rates (please check the latest rates from the Saunsthan): Hall

addition to the above hall, there is one more hall known as Shri Santeri
Hall, situated on the first floor of the office building. The said hall
is used for holding the General Body Meeting of the Mazania of the Saunsthan
and also rented out for small functions. |
