Shri Mahalasa's Temple
at Harikhandige

Shri Mahalasa Narayani got her latest temple
made for her at Harikhandige, a rural hamlet,
about 25 km from Udupi, via Perdoor.

This temple is unique in its own way.

Firstly, when you enter from the main gate,
it would appear as if you are entering
a resort. Yes, a spiritual resort.

Originally conceived as a community hall
for devotees to carry out spiritual
and social activities, it developed into
a temple as per Her wishes.

Devotees will undoubtedly give credit
to Shri Suresh J Pai, known fondly to
his disciples as "Guruji".

An entirely social aspect of this temple is that
Shri Suresh J. Pai, who has authored books
on Shri Mahalasa Narayani in English, Kannada and Marathi,
has also arranged for the education of poor
children of the area and the reopening,
albeit weekly, of a health centre to cater to
the needs of the villagers.
